Proctor fans get to meet the drivers Sunday, including winners Vang, Uotinen, Nelson, Mindock and Jarecki

PROCTOR, MN (June 22) - It was a night of thrills and a few spills, as Proctor Speedway hosted its annual Meet the Drivers night.

WISSOTA Dirt Track Series winners included Joey Jensen, Dylan Nelson, Danny Vang, Brady Uotinen, Brent Mindock, and DeJay Jareki.

Sam Blevins and Don Smith brought a great field of 23 WISSOTA Midwest Mods to the green flag. Blevins was the early leader, followed by Blake Adams in second. Paul Ripley and Cody Carlson battled back and forth for third, while Joey Jensen was in fifth. Tyler Vernon was close behind in sixth.

At the halfway point, Blevins continued to lead with Adams drawing closer to his bumper. Ripley was third and Jensen was fourth, before the caution fell for a stalled Cody Carlson.

The field was back under green with five to go; Blevins led a side-by-side battle for second among Adams, Ripley, and Jensen. Another caution brought the field to a halt.

Following the next restart, Blevins was scored as the leader with four to go. It was side-by-side action for position in the second and third rows for top-five spots among Ripley, Adams, Jensen and Vernon. Another caution kept the race slowed with three to go.

Blevins led the field back to green, but contact was made between Blevins and Ripley down the frontstretch, with Ripley going off the track, and the caution was back out once more. A spin on the restart continued to keep the race under yellow.

Blevins led Adams and Jensen back to green. Adams, Blevins and Jensen were three wide into one, with Jensen shaking out into the lead, Adams second, and Vernon third. Jensen drove to victory lane from there, ahead of Adams, Vernon, Mikey Blevins, and Jimmy Latvala in the top five.

In the WISSOTA Super Stocks, the field was led to green by Patrick Beeksma and Mikey Vajdl. Vajdl was the early leader, as Kyle Copp and Beeksma battled side by side for second. Dylan Nelson was right on their bumpers to the outside, while D.J. Keeler moved in and made it nearly four wide for top-five spots.

Vajdl continued to lead, as Nelson worked his way by Copp into second along the high side, and repeated the effort to get by Vajdl for the lead in the next corner.

Nelson immediately pulled away from the fight for second, between Copp and Vajdl, while Curt Myers had cracked the top five from 10th at the start.

With five laps left, Nelson had a more than a two-second lead over the pack, with Vajdl second, Myers third and searching for more, Copp and Keeler in the top five. Myers made the pass on Vajdl about a half a lap later.

Nelson drove on to the commanding win, ahead of Myers, Keeler, Vajdl and Beeksma.

The initial start for the WISSOTA Late Models was called back due to a spin by Harry Hanson in turn four. On the full restart, Tim McMann jumped out to the early lead, followed by Derek Vesel and Danny Vang in the top three.

McMann continued to hold the top spot as the top five spread out around the track. Vesel tried to chip into the leader’s advantage, drawing even down the backstretch, but not finding enough momentum to make the pass. The caution fell then for a spin by Lucas Lillo with eight laps scored.

McMann led once again on the ensuing restart. Vesel was second, Vang was third, Jeff Massingill had worked his way into fourth, and Lukas Koski was fifth. Another spin for Chris Lillo with eight laps to go regrouped the field. The restart was marred by a dustup between Aaron and Chris Lillo.

With McMann out front, Vang drove into second on the restart, with Massingill moving past Vesel as well to third. Koski was fifth, before another tangle between the Lillos ended with a caution.

Contact to the rear of McMann from Massingill on the green called the start back; on the ensuing try, Vang shot to the inside of McMann and drove by into the lead, as Massingill followed through to second. Vesel then displaced McMann to fourth, and Koski was fifth.

Out front, Massingill tried to track down Vang, but did not have enough to get by, as Koski drove by McMann for fourth.

Vang took the win, ahead of Massingill, Vesel, Koski, and Aaron Lillo in the top five.

Brady Uotinen and Tyler Vernon brought the field of WISSOTA Modifieds to the green flag, with Uotinen taking the early lead of the 20-lapper. Vernon was close behind in second, just ahead of Nick Oreskovich in third. Aiden Hoffman’s ride slowed to a stop on the frontstretch and the field was under caution. Kevin Adams also left the track during this caution period.

Uotinen drove out to a healthy lead following the restart, as Vernon fell back through the field. Jeffrey Wood moved into second, Oreskovich held third, Andrew Inman was fourth and Brandon Copp was fifth.

Inman got by Oreskovich a couple of laps later to take third.

Out front, Uotinen had a more than two-second lead at the halfway point. That was the way it stayed through the checkered flag, with Uotinen having a commanding six-plus-second advantage over the field and taking home the win. Wood, Inman, Oreskovich, and Copp were the top-five finishers.

It was a cluster of hard racing at the beginning of the WISSOTA Pure Stock feature, with Brent Mindock shaking loose into the early lead before a caution regrouped the field.

Mindock led the restart, with Jake Smith and Eric Crosby side by side for second, and Chaston Finckbone right behind in fourth.

As Mindock increased his lead, Smith had sole possession of second, and Finckbone was a distance back in third. A spin by Rob Christman while vying for fourth brought the field back together.

Mindock led the restart, with Finckbone moving to second and Smith shuffled back into third. Smith gave it one more push in the final turn, but Finckbone held onto runner-up honors as Mindock took the checkered flag. Dylan Shelton, and Anthony Schultz completed the top five.

The WISSOTA Hornets closed out the program’s action, led early on by Derek Dunbar. Nikota Larson was second, and DeJay Jarecki, who started seventh, challenged Joseph Puidokas side by side for third. A.J. House was fifth.

Jarecki took third and then got by Larson for second. Out front, Jarecki applied heavy pressure to Dunbar for the lead; as they came back around into turn one, a car in the back of the field had spun and flipped in turn two, and the field scattered as they approached the disabled Hornet.

With the field back under green and three laps to go, Jarecki had the lead and drove off from House in the sprint to the checkered flag. Larson held third, Carson Gotelaere was fourth and Michael Teggatz was fifth.
