Heinzerling rallies from eighth starting spot to top MidMods and Larson keeps winning record perfect in Gillette Mod Fours

GILLETTE, WY (June 22) - Matt Heinzerling captured his first win of the season, while Dean Larson grabbed his seventh at Gillette Thunder Speedway on Saturday night, to highlight WISSOTA Dirt Track Series competition.

Heinzerling, in just his second start at the oval in 2024, clawed his way from eighth on the grid for the WISSOTA Midwest Modified victory. Austin Long, who started ninth, followed Heinzerling through the pack and finished in the runner-up position, with Ty Miller third, point-leader Matthew Drake fourth and Brennan Davis fifth.

Larson became a perfect seven for seven in the WISSOTA Mod Four ranks at the speedway this season. On Saturday, he started seventh, took the lead near the halfway mark of the 12-lap race, and pulled away to a nearly three-second victory over Greg Baker. To complete the top five, David Jozwiak rallied from 10th to third ahead of Shelli Lind and Dax Reher.

In other action at the speedway, Eddie Kirchoff won a pair in the Late Models and Modifieds, Brett Konst outran John Garrigan, Jr. for the Hobby Stock win, and Allen Johnstone topped the Mini Bombers.
