Rodin tops second Arizona Limited Mod main, Weiss runner-up again in the Late Models

CASA GRANDE, AZ (January 19) - The second night of the Ernie Mincy Early Thaw got underway on January 19, highlighted by former WISSOTA National Champion Lucas Rodin’s second-straight win in the Limited Modified class.

In fact, it was an all-WISSOTA top three in the Limited Modifieds. The reigning Midwest Modified Rookie of the Year and Cameron, Wisconsin’s Blake Adams was second, while St. Joseph, Minnesota native and former Midwest Mod National Champion Jake Smith improved one spot to third. Another former Midwest Mod National Champion, Elizabeth, Minnesota’s Travis Saurer, was fourth, and Tate Johnson completed the top five.

In the Late Models, eighth-starter Billy Moyer, of Batesville, Arkansas, took the lead on lap nine and paced the final 22 circuits to win Friday's $2,500 feature. Thirteenth-starter Ricky Weiss, of Headingly, Manitoba, moved into the runner-up spot on the last lap, finishing 4.802 seconds behind Moyer.

Austin Kuehl was third, 21st-starter Clayton Stuckey was fourth, and polesitter Dustin Bluhm slipped back to fifth. Other WISSOTA-regular top-10 finishers included Michael Leach (6th), Josh Zimpel (7th), Jason Strand (8th), Cole Schill (9th from 22nd), and 23rd-starter Zach Johnson in 10th.

In the track’s other classes, Tom Berry, Jr. was victorious in the Modifieds, Bo Partain topped the Stock Cars from the pole, and Cam Reimers did the same in the Sport Mods.
