WISSOTA champions do well in Late Models & Limited Mods, as Arizona action opens
From All The Dirt! Racing News and DirtonDirt.com Staff Reports
CASA GRANDE, AZ (January 18) - Lucas Rodin drove to his first feature win to kick off the 2024 racing season in fine fashion Thursday, January 18, taking home the victory in the Limited Modified A-Main at Central Arizona Raceway in Casa Grande, AZ.
The Don Shaw-promoted Ernie Mincy Early Thaw event hosted many familiar WISSOTA-region faces, with more than a handful having great runs in the desert.
In the Late Models, seventh-starting Billy Moyer, of Batesville, Arkansas, took the lead on lap 17 and paced the final nine circuits to win the $2,000 opener. Former WISSOTA National Champion Ricky Weiss started 21st and pursued Moyer the final nine laps, finishing 0.182 of a second back. Sixth-starter Dustin Strand, also a former National Champion, finished third. Former and reigning multi-time WISSOTA National Champion Shane Sabraski was fourth in his Late Model early-season debut, while 10th-starter Dustin Bluhm was fifth.
In the Limited Modified class, former WISSOTA National Champion Lucas Rodin took the victory ahead of another former WISSOTA National Champion, Jake Smith. North Dakota racers Jory Berg and Jess Brekke were third and fourth, while Josh Cain completed the top five.
In the IMCA Stock Cars, Trent Grager was victorious from inside the second row, while front-row starter Chaz Baca won the Modified feature. Cam Reimers was victorious in the Sport Mod feature.
