CASA GRANDE, AZ (January 20) - “The Nightmare” Lucas Rodin scored his third feature win in a row Saturday night at Central Arizona Raceway, highlighting action during the Don Shaw-promoted Ernie Mincy Early Thaw and closing out the first of two weekends of action for the mini series.

After a back-and-forth battle and numerous cautions to start the Limited Modified feature, Rodin took the lead for good ahead of front-row starter and Cameron, Wisconsin’s Blake Adams. Adams was left to battle with Elizabeth, Minnesota’s Travis Saurer for second. Adams took hold of the runner-up honors, leaving Saurer to battle with another familiar WISSOTA-region racer, Jake Smith, for third. Rodin drove on to the eventual win ahead of Adams, Saurer, Smith, and North Dakotan Jess Brekke in the top five. Fellow North Dakotan and 18th-starter Preston Carr was sixth, Jory Berg, of Devils Lake, North Dakota, was seventh, and Jamestown’s Scott Bintz was ninth. Minnesotan Ryan McCleary completed the top-10.

In the Late Models, 2023 John Seitz Memorial Champion Shane Edginton was the early leader before motor troubles forced him to retire from the race. Fifth-starter Tyler Peterson inherited the lead and paced the remaining circuits to win Saturday's 35-lap feature. Tenth-starter Billy Moyer moved into second on the lap-seven restart and trailed Peterson the rest of the way, finishing 1.116 seconds back aboard a Don Shaw-owned machine. Ricky Weiss completed the podium after taking the third spot on a lap-11 restart. Sixteenth-starter Clayton Stuckey was fourth, and 17th-starter Michael Leach was fifth.

Other WISSOTA-area finishers in the top 10 included Dustin Strand (7th), Josh Zimpel (8th), Dustin Bluhm (9th) and Ryan Corbett (10th).

In the track’s other classes, Bo Partain was victorious again in the Stock Cars, Chaz Baca won in the Modifieds, and Cam Reimers took the victory in the Sport Mods.
