Minnesota’s Sorensen scores a top-five behind Pierce in third night in New Mexico
From DirtonDirt.com Staff Reports
VADO, NM (January 10) - Surviving two hairy moments amid lapped traffic late in the distance, Bobby Pierce of Oakwood, IL held on to capture Wednesday night’s 30-lap Wild West Shootout feature at Vado Speedway Park. The 27-year-old star briefly lost the lead to Garrett Alberson on lap 20—and traded paint with a slower machine six laps later—but beat Alberson to the finish line by 1.165 seconds for his second straight $11,000 victory.
Babb, who was an early leader in the race, finsihed third. Rochester, Minnesota’s Dustin Sorensen was fourth, and Preston Luckman was fifth.
A trio of WISSOTA-region drivers finished in a pack together, as Winona, Minnesota’s Jake Timm was 12th from 23rd, Canadian and former National Champion Ricky Weiss was 13th from 21st at the start, and Menomonie, Wisconsin’s Sam Mars moved from 22nd to 14th at the finish.
