ABERDEEN, SD (August 31) - Night two of the Agtegra Big Buck Nationals was an exciting one. With 114 drivers on hand, there was extra money on the line, plus a Henry Golden Boy Lever Action Rifle for every feature winner. The WISSOTA Street Stocks, Midwest Modifieds, Modifieds and Super Stocks, plus the Tri-State Late Models were on tap for the finale.

Ryan Ost, Mike Stearns, Trevor Nelson, Maria Broksieck and Trevor Anderson were the lucky drivers to find their way to victory.

First up was the WISSOTA Street Stock class with 20 drivers in attendance for the $1,000 payday. Jeromy Thorstenson and Maria Broksieck brought the field to green with Broksieck grabbing the early lead. Caution struck on lap two due to debris.

Jodie Michaelsohn found something up top following the restart and pulled even with Broksieck until caution struck with 12 to go for a car over the top of turn one. Caution struck again two laps later due to a multi-car wreck.

Spence Pollock rolled the bottom and pulled even with Broksieck multiple times after the restart with 10 to go, as Michaelsohn and Chris Serr were right in tow. The top four separated from the field and battled hard. Pollock and Broksieck swapped the lead multiple times.

On the white flag lap, the lead duo battled side by side coming to checkered; Pollock slid up the track and the drivers made contact, sending Broksieck off the track. While Pollock crossed the line first, officials called him for the contact and credited him with 15th, giving the win to Broksieck. Michaelsohn and Serr completed the podium.

On deck were the WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds, with 24 drivers vying for a $1,200 payday. Todd Stark and Kyle Langland brought the field to green, with Stark grabbing the lead early. Caution struck on lap three due to a single car spin.

On the restart, Ryan Ost started running the top and pulled even with Stark. As the top two battled side by side, they opened a gap to the rest of the field, which put them in lapped traffic with 12 to go. The traffic worked to Ost’s favor as he used the top and took the lead from Stark. Caution struck again with only three laps to go due to a four-car wreck in turn one.

On what became the final restart, Jarod Klein entered the battle, taking second from Stark and challenging Ost, but Ost was just too strong and held on to grab the win, the biggest payday of his career and second-ever win in a WISSOTA Midwest Modified. Klein and Dawson Zabel rounded out the podium.

Mike Stearns (Cody Papke Photo)

The WISSOTA Modifieds followed up with 15 drivers on hand for their $2,000 payday. Mike Stearns and Joseph Thomas brought the field with life, with Stearns grabbing the lead. The pesky yellow flag flew on lap three due to a single car spin.

The ensuing restart was better for Thomas, as he was hot on Stearns bumper, but the field came to a halt as Tyler Gefroh went for a tumble in turn one; he was okay.

After the field retook the green, Thomas rolled the bottom and sent a slider into turn three but to no avail. Stearns began to check out on the field after that, opening a straightaway lead, and went on to grab the win. In victory lane Stearns stated, “being in the national title hunt, this win means a heck of a lot.” Thomas and Dale Ames completed the podium.

Trevor Nelson (Cody Papke Photo)

The WISSOTA Super Stocks were 18 drivers strong with a $1,500 payday on the line. Two Brown County Speedway regulars, Matt Johnson and Trevor Nelson, brought the field to green. The front row battled side by side for the opening lap until Nelson grabbed the lead.

A caution on lap four slowed the field. Once back under green, Nelson opened his own gap on the field. Another yellow struck with 11 to go, but after that it was all Nelson, as he checked out and ran away to score the win. Stewart Schipke and Johnson finished on the podium.

The Tri-State Late Models rounded out the night, led by Trevor Anderson and Corey Zeitner from the front row. Anderson went on to lead all 35 laps and score the $3,000 payday. In victory lane he said, “I love running with Tri-State, but man I miss racing here every week. This track is my favorite and this is definitely my biggest win of my career.” Mike Greseth and Chad Becker rounded out the podium.
