Cain caps off a two-night Mod sweep, Chernosky looks Super again, and Vernon and Kellar crank it up as Thunder City finishes 2024 with DTN finale

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO (September 21) - Dave Cain made it a weekend sweep in Thunder Bay, as he topped the second night of WISSOTA Modified action and took the victory in the headlining feature of the Dirt Track Nationals at Thunder City Speedway.

Cole Chernosky picked up the big win in the WISSOTA Super Stocks, while Tyler Vernon and AJ Kellar were also victorious in WISSOTA Dirt Track Series action.

Cain started inside the second row and took the lead with about 14 laps to go, hitting up victory lane just a half second ahead of fellow American invader Brandon Copp. Twelfth-starter Nick Oreskovich, Jody Bellefeuille, and Colin Chaschuk completed the top five.

In the Super Stocks, Chernosky’s drive from sixth was a dominant one, as he took home the victory more than 3 seconds ahead of multi-time National Champion Tim Johnson. DJ Keeler, Dexton Koch, Curt Myers rounded out the top five.

Tyler Vernon made his trip from Ashland, Wisconsin pay off, as he took top honors in the Midwest Modifieds. Eleventh-starter David Simpson charged to second, Friday night’s winner William Moelter was third, 13th-starter Nick Koehler was fourth, and 17th-starter Wyatt Boyum was fifth.

Kellar scored the Street Stock victory, taking the win ahead Tim Johnson, who was pulling double duty. Twenty-first starter Kyle Bolt settled into third at the finish, while Brendan Makkinga and 16th-starter Shawn Polonoski were top-five finishers.

In the track’s Hornet feature, Jesse Owen collected his third win of the season.
