Leiker, Pourier and Holtquist handle nice-sized WISSOTA fields to be night one winners at Black Hills Half Mile Nationals
RAPID CITY, SD (August 23) - Black Hills Speedway welcomed fans and drivers to its seventh-annual South Dakota Lottery Half Mile Nationals two-day special Friday.
WISSOTA Dirt Track Series winners included Troy Leiker, Warren Pourier, Jr., and Robert Holtquist.
In the Midwest Mods, Leiker led from start to finish to grab his eighth win of the 2024 season. He crossed the stripe ahead of Paul Parks, Tony Leiker, Kyle Harkin and ninth-starter Darin Hauff in the top five.
Pourier, Jr. garnered his second win of the 2024 season with his victory in the Street Stocks. He started on the front row and drove to the checkered flag ahead of sixth-starter Troy Murner, who had to settle for second. Leonard Ferguson, Les Cuny and Kyle Hanson were top-five finishers.
It was a father-son battle in the Mod Fours, where dad came out on top this time, with Robert Holtquist conquering son Dustin for the win. Kyle Hardesty, Dean Larson and Rob Arlaud completed the top five.
In the track’s other action, John Garrigan Jr. (IMCA Hobby Stocks), and Brent Nielsen (IMCA Modifieds) scored opening-night victories.
