Chernosky continues double-feature winning ways while Boyum and Makkinga make fans happy as well at Thunder City Speedway

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO (August 7) - Cole Chernosky continued his double-feature winning ways this season, garnering the victories in the WISSOTA Modifieds and Super Stocks Wednesday night at Thunder City Speedway. Ashley Boyum scored the win in the WISSOTA Midwest Mods, while Brendan Makkinga captured the top spot in the Street Stocks to round out WISSOTA Dirt Track Series action for the evening.

Chernosky’s route to his wins was a lengthy one in both classes, but he was up to the challenge. He started eighth in the WISSOTA Modified feature. Nearing the halfway point, Chernosky had picked his way forward into the lead and held on to take the win by nearly 6 seconds. Curtis Stieh, John Toppozini, Colin Chaschuk, and Riley Mathews completed the top five.

In the WISSOTA Super Stock feature, Chernosky took about the same amount of laps to snake his way to the front from his ninth-starting spot, grabbing the lead about lap six and driving off to a nearly 3-second advantage over seventh-starter Danny Young in second. Shawn Polonoski, Nathan Roy and Rick Simpson rounded out the top five.

Boyum led from start to finish in the WISSOTA Midwest Modified feature, netting the win ahead of current national point leader David Simpson in second. Wyatt Boyum, Tanner Ulakovic, and Patrick Davis were top-five finishers. It is Boyum’s second win of the season.

In the WISSOTA Street Stocks, Makkinga made his way to the front from the fifth starting spot, taking the lead early and holding on for the victory ahead of the hard-charging 16th-starter Nathan Henry in second. Kyle Bolt, 12th-starter Justin Tougas and Steven Piilo completed the top five.

In the track’s Hornet class, Michael Shalley was victorious once again, his seventh win of the season at the speedway.
