Jensen pierces Proctor Speedway’s Midwest Mod competition during Monday night special

PROCTOR, MN (July 1) - Proctor Speedway opened its July schedule with a bang, as the track hosted a rare Monday night special with WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds as part of the program. Super Late Models as well as Northern Renegade Non-Wing Sprints were also a highlight for fans in the Twin Ports area.

In WISSOTA Dirt Track Series action, Joshua Kough and Adam Shinn led the Midwest Modified field to green. Shinn was the early leader, before Paul Ripley drove by into the top spot with a handful of laps in the books.

Meanwhile, Joey Jensen, who started with fellow standout Blake Adams in the fourth row, picked his way forward, moving into fourth with just a few laps complete. He patiently worked forward, racing side by side with Ripley for the lead for a few laps before getting by into the top spot at about the halfway point of the race. From there, he drove on to a near two-second lead ahead of Adams, who followed Jensen to the front and nipped Ripley for second at the stripe. Tyler Vernon, and Sam Blevins were top-five finishers.

In the Late Models, Bobby Pierce – who has 14 victories so far this season – started on the pole, flanked by Devin Moran. Moran took the initial lead and Pierce slipped back to second for the first half of the race. Just past the halfway point, Pierce drove back past Moran and had a one-second advantage at the checkered flag over Moran. Mike Marlar, Ryan Gustin, and Nick Hoffman completed the top five.

In the Sprints, Chris Lewis picked up the win from his second-row starting spot. He was followed to the checkered flag by Brad Cunningham, Brad Peterson, Jori Hughes, and Paul Schultz in the top five.
