CRARY, ND (July 27) - The weather man lost Saturday night at the Devil’s Playground. With ever-changing weather reports, the crew at Devils Lake Speedway did all they could do to push the show along to avoid weather.

The hard work paid off, as WISSOTA Dirt Track Series action was completed and winners included Dustin Strand, Kasey Ussatis, and Jamie Dietzler.

The WISSOTA Street Stocks raced caution free in the feature Saturday night. Stoney Kruk, Seth Klostreich and Ussatis raced three wide for the lead for a good half of the race. Cole Greseth made his way to the front, getting by Klostreich and passing Kruk, and then setting his sights on Ussatis. Ussatis held off Greseth to take home the win. Greseth was second, Kruk was third, Klostreich was fourth and Drew Peterson completed the top five.

Rookie driver MaKenna Romuld led a good portion of the WISSOTA Midwest Mod race until Jason Halvorson was able to get by into the lead. Halvorson was on his way to victory lane until a caution came out about lap 12. Jamie Dietzler made his move on Halvorson after the restart to take the lead, with Zach Reinke and Austin Hunter also on their way to the front.

In the closing laps, Reinke was gaining on Dietzler, but Dietzler held onto the lead to the finish line. Reinke was second ahead of Austin Hunter in third, while Clyen Vargason inched by Halvorson at the line by .11 of a second to finish fourth.

The NLRA Late Models made their last trek of the season to DLS. Cole Schill and Brody Troftgruben led the field to green, with Troftgruben getting the early lead. Troftgruben remained out front until about lap 13, when Dustin Strand took the top spot. Strand cruised his way to victory lane making it his third win on the weekend. Troftgruben settled for second ahead of Schill, ninth-starter Tyler Peterson, and Joey Pederson in the top five. Jason Strand was the hard charger, moving forward eight positions.

The points championship for the WISSOTA Late Models will be held August 3 to accommodate the NLRA schedule and neighboring track’s Late Model specials.

Erik Wenstad started pole and held on to win his first feature in the Pure Stocks. Wenstad had pressure at different points in the race from Austin Harris and veteran driver Joe Armstrong. Wenstad held on to take the checkered flag.
