Mahder looks Super in the 55 and Kummer cashes out with Street Stock series win at Red Cedar Speedway

MENOMONIE, WI (July 25) - The Dirt Race Central Street Stock Tour was in town for the first night of their two-night stop at Red Cedar Speedway Thursday night. The event was part of the annual two-night show held at Red Cedar Speedway in conjunction with the Dunn County Fair.

In other WISSOTA Dirt Track Series action, Cory Mahder drove to the win in the Super Stocks. Brandon Gleiter won in the track’s Hornet action.

Cody Kummer and Nick Traynor led the field to the green flag in the 25-lap WISSOTA Street Stock feature, with Kummer jumping out to the early lead using the bottom side of the raceway. Kyle Genett and Traynor pressured Kummer, but could never pull even with Kummer.

Behind the leaders, Justin Vogel tried to close on the leaders using the extreme high line of the speedway. As Kummer’s handling started to fade, the other three drivers began to close in quickly; just as they were about to make their move, the caution fell. Kummer continued to hold on out front, and as the trailing cars progressed another caution fell and kept their momentum at a standstill.

One final restart gave them one last chance, but Kummer was up to the challenge and just too strong as he went on to the victory followed by Traynor, Genett, Vogel and Jeff Ekdahl in the top five.

The WISSOTA Super Stock feature was dominated by Cory Mahder. Mahder took off from his pole position and kept the others at bay. Tom Karis and Jesse Redetzke held strong behind the leader but could never close, while Alex Myers began to reel in Karis and Redetzke in second and third. Karis and Redetzke were side by side for most of the event, but were never able to close on the leader. Mahder took the win, followed by Karis, Redetzke, Myers and Terran Spacek in the top five.

Brandon Gleiter continued his winning ways as he got by race-long leader Preston Coombs with a few laps remaining to win the RCS Hornets.
