GRAND RAPIDS, MN (July 18) - Fans and drivers gathered once again Thursday night at Grand Rapids Speedway for another night of WISSOTA Dirt Track Series action. It was also powerwheel races for the kids, with winners including Mavrik Wohlers, Kyah Krzoska, Colt Broking, Kane Massingill.

Winners on the track in WISSOTA action included Johnny Broking, Curt Myers, Chaston Finckbone, Blake Adams, and Payson Patrin.

Blake Adams (Melissa Pickett Photo)

Adams was the early leader in the WISSOTA Midwest Mods. With a couple laps complete, a get-together between Mervin Castle III and David Simpson brought the field back together. Simpson went to the back for the restart.

Back out front, Adams had a several car-length lead over Don Smith, Michael Blevins, Mikey Blevins and Sam Blevins, who were racing for top-five spots.

Just past the halfway point, Michael Blevins made his way by Smith into second, as Adams began to navigate his way through the back of the field.

Adams raced on to the victory unchallenged, with Michael Blevins, Smith, Sam Blevins and Mikey Blevins in the top five.

Curt Myers (Melissa Pickett Photo)

In the WISSOTA Super Stocks, Doug Koski was the early leader before Curt Myers lost the handle in turn four, sending him spinning. With no laps complete, the field was reset to the original lineup.

Koski again jumped out front for the restart, with a hornet’s nest behind him for top-five spots. Myers shook out into second and set off after Koski; he made the pass for the lead one lap later. Cole Chernosky was third while Dustin Nelson and Max Dondelinger argued over fourth, with Nelson settling into the spot.

Myers had a healthy lead out front, as Chernosky got by Koski for second. Nelson remained in fourth, and Dondelinger was fifth.

With six laps to go, Myers’ lead had diminished as Chernosky began to really chip away at the advantage, while Nelson slid by Koski for third. Myers hung on to take the win, with Chernosky settling for second. Nelson, Koski and Dondelinger were top-five finishers.

Johnny Broking (Melissa Pickett Photo)

It took Johnny Broking a scant half of a straightaway to drive past a Heinle-family front row and into the lead to start the WISSOTA Late Model feature, as Sabraski advanced to second. Ben Heinle slipped back to third, just ahead of a side-by-side battle between Jeff Massingill and Harry Hanson for fourth. Jeff Provinzino was on the move, and he got by Massingill to join in the top-five battle, moving his way past Hanson into fourth.

Broking and Sabraski checked out to a near half-lap lead at the halfway point.

Broking maintained his lead ahead of Sabraski through the final stages of the feature, driving on to victory lane. Ben Heinle, Provinzino, and Hanson were top-five finishers.

Chaston Finckbone (Melissa Pickett Photo)

Brandon Puschinsky was the early leader in the WISSOTA Pure Stocks, with heavy pressure from Austin Carlson. Jake Smith was third, and Chaston Finckbone made his way to fourth. Carlson got by into the top spot, as Finckbone worked his way to the inside of Smith for third. He then drove into second before the halfway point of the race.

When Carlson drifted off the bottom a bit around lap 11, Finckbone slipped by along the low lane into the lead. Justin Barsness tried to take advantage of a three- and nearly four-wide finish with a lapped car to the outside of Finckbone. It was a charge to the checkered flag between Finckbone and Barsness, with Finckbone taking the win by a hair in a thrilling finish. Carlson, Smith and Puschinsky were top-five finishers.

Payson Patrin (Melissa Pickett Photo)

Payson Patrin put on a show in the WISSOTA Hornets, as he charged from eighth on the starting grid to the lead and drove on for his seventh win of the season. Ninth-starter Tristen McLynn advanced seven spots to second, McKenna Folstad was third, Cade Johnson was fourth, and Riley Ament completed the top five.

In the Northern Renegade feature, Ken Hron came out on top.
