GRAND FORKS, MN (June 7) - History was made Friday night at River Cities Speedway in two distinct ways, as Dustin Strand garnered his 50th feature win at River Cities, and the NLRA Late Model main event was led for a lap by a female for the first time ever.

Laela Eisenschenk shared the front row with Jason Strand for the 25-lap WISSOTA Late Model feature, with Eisenschenk out front early and becoming the first female driver to lead a feature race with the 27-year-old series.

Strand took the lead on lap two as Shane Edginton battled Eisenschenk for second. The top three remained the same through cautions on laps five and six; during the lap six restart, Eisenschenk went for a series of flips in turn one that also collected Joey Pederson and Lance Schill.

Eisenschenk did get out of her car with help of the safety crew and suffered a concussion.

Back under green, Strand and Edginton went door-to-door for the lead for a number of laps until Edginton took the position at the end of the eighth circuit. Another caution on lap 12 was followed by a lap 14 rollover for Greg Moore, as he dug in and flipped on the outside of turn two. He exited his No. 14M safely.

The final 11 laps went caution free as Strand continued to hound Edginton for the lead throughout the duration of the race. On the final lap, Strand ducked to the inside of turns three and four and passed Edginton at the line to steal the win by .049 seconds to win his 50th Late Model feature at the Bullring and 106th overall. Jason Strand, Cole Schill, and Ryan Corbett completed the top five.

In the World of Outlaws Sprint feature, Giovanni Scelzi delivered the victory from his pole starting spot.

Racing action continues Friday night as the Late Models have the night off for the NLRA races at Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo. The Sprint Cars, WISSOTA Midwest Mods, and WISSOTA Street Stocks will be joined by WISSOTA Modifieds and the Red River IMCA Sprint Series for the first time at the Bullring in 2024. Races begin at 7 p.m.
