Spacek sprints past Henkemeyer to score Super Stock Series win Sunday at Proctor

PROCTOR, MN (June 9) - Proctor Speedway hosted the third stop of the Fastlane Motorsports Super Stock Series Sunday night, June 9. When the checkered flags flew, Terran Spacek took the Super Stock crown. Cody Carlson, Justin Schelitzche, and Chaston Finckbone were also WISSOTA Dirt Track Series winners during the program.

Spacek started from the front row Sunday night in the WISSOTA Super Stock headliner, but dropped back during the first lap into fourth, as James Trantina was the early leader. A caution a couple of laps in for Tucker Quinn reset the field.

Trantina led the field back to green, followed by Joey Jensen and Austin Blom in the top three. Spacek was fourth.

Jensen took the lead about two laps later, with Trantina in second. Blom went up and over the track in turn three and the caution came back out.

Back under green, Jensen led Jordan Henkemeyer, Tim Johnson and Spacek. Johnson began to battle Henkemeyer for second, with Spacek close behind in fourth. Spacek got by Johnson a lap later for third and then set out after Henkemeyer, though Johnson was never too far behind in fourth. After several green flag laps of racing, Quinn brought the caution again by going off the track, as Jensen came to a stop on the backstretch with mechanical issues.

Henkemeyer led the restart with 16 laps scored, and as the field came around into turn four was hit by Tim Johnson, who then spun to the infield; the caution fell once more.

Once under green with 20 laps completed, Henkemeyer led out front, while Koch and Spacek battled hard for second. Spacek shook free of Koch and began to move in on Henkemeyer, as 14th-starter Shawn McFadden was fourth and 18th-starter D.J. Keeler was fifth.

Spacek grabbed the lead along the low side with about seven to go heading into turn one. As he set pace at the front of the field, Henkemeyer held second, McFadden was third, Keeler was fourth and Matt Deragon was fifth.

Spacek drove on to the victory, grabbing the checkered flag ahead of Henkemeyer, McFadden, Keeler, and Deragon.

Justin Schelitzche (Tom Krob Photo)

In the WISSOTA Hornets, Justin Schelitzche took the lead on lap two, driving by Derek Dunbar and into the lead. He had heavy pressure from Carson Gotelaere and Dunbar, with D.J. Jarecki close behind. In the battle for second, Dunbar rolled his racer along the frontstretch. He was okay.

Schelitzche drove back out to the lead following the restart, followed by Gotelaere and Jarecki. Seventh-starter A.J. House had made his way into fourth, while 13th-starter Joseph Puidokas was fifth.

Schelitzche drove on to the victory, followed to the checkered flag by Gotelaere, Jarecki, House and Puidokas in the top five.

Chaston Finckbone (Tom Krob Photo)

Chaston Finckbone drove from eighth on the starting grid in the WISSOTA Pure Stocks to garner his second win of the season. It would not be easy, as he was put to the back with about five laps to go. He prevailed however, gaining several spots following the restart before another caution with just three to go fell for a spun racer. Finckbone drove three wide for much of a lap following the final restart, getting to the outside of Travis Hazelton with one lap to go for second, and passing race-long leader Dylan Shelton in the final turn for the thrilling win. He was victorious ahead of Dylan Shelton, Travis Hazelton, Jake Smith and Aaron Bernick.

Cody Carlson (Tom Krob Photo)

In the WISSOTA Midwest Mods, Cody Carlson started from the front row and held off the likes of Joey Jensen, Blake Adams, Tyler Vernon and Evan Checkalski in the top five to claim the eventual victory, his first of the season.
