Long and Larson leave rivals in the dust Saturday night at Gillette Thunder Speedway
GILLETTE, WY (May 25) - Austin Long grabbed his first WISSOTA Dirt Track Series win of the season Saturday night at Gillette Thunder Speedway. The hometown driver was joined in victory lane by Minnesotan Dean Larson, who topped the Mod Fours.
Long started on the front row of the 20-lap WISSOTA Midwest Modified feature, and led the distance for the victory ahead of Kyle Harkin. Matthew Drake rallied from eighth to third, with Matt Heinzerling fourth and 13th-starter Bart Taylor fifth.
Larson started in the fourth row of the WISSOTA Mod Four main event, took the lead in a matter of laps, and ran off to a nearly four-second victory, his third in three starts at the oval this season. John Smith posted a second-place effort with Glenn Asmus third, Greg Baker fourth and Dax Reher fifth.
Eddie Kirchoff topped both the Late Model and Modified main events, while Brett Konst held off John Garrigan, Jr. for the Hobby Stock win.
