The first of two Late Model specials for 2024 is coming up May 25 at Rice Lake Speedway

RICE LAKE, WI - The WISSOTA sanctioned Late Models will be making two appearances at the Rice Lake Speedway in 2024. The first one is coming up soon as the high powered Late Models will be on hand on Saturday night, May 25 for the Swant Graber 40.

The Swant Graber 40, with presenting sponsor Red Cedar Painting, will be a 40-lap contest with $2,000 on the line for the winner and $200 just to start the main event. As with other special events at the track this year, Rice Lake Speedway LLC will not be charging any kind of entry fee or draw fee for the drivers and the pit admission prices will be unchanged from the regular Saturday night fee, which is $30 to get into the pits.

This will be the only Late Model race in the area on Memorial Day weekend, so a solid field of the best WISSOTA drivers from the region is expected and with high car counts so far this year for Late Model racing in the area, the owners of the speedway are confident that a good, hich quality field will be on hand.

Last year the speedway also ran two Late Model events; the winners were Sam Mars and Chad Mahder and both will again be expected to contend for the wins this year. There may also be more local entrants this time around as both Denny Cutsforth and Kevin Adams, regular Saturday night competitors, have Late Models available to them and may decide to tackle the challengers from the area.

And not only will the Late Models be on hand for a full show using the passing points formula for qualifying, four other divisions will also be in action. The WISSOTA sanctioned Super Stocks, Midwest Modifieds, Street Stocks and Pure Stocks will also run full shows with only the Modifieds getting the night off. And as an added bonus for the race fans of the speedway, regular admission prices will be in effect with no increase in admission due to the Late Model addition.

The speedway gates will open for drivers at 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. for spectators with the draw cutoff at 5:30 p.m. and racing to start at 6:00 p.m. sharp.

Rice Lake Speedway is located one mile North of Rice Lake midway between state highway 49 and Barron County highway SS. The track phone number is 715-236-2002.
