Drake and Larson lead the way in WISSOTA features at Gillette Thunder Speedway
GILLETTE, WY (May 18) - Matthew Drake and Dean Larson split the WISSOTA Dirt Track Series victories on Saturday night at Gillette Thunder Speedway. Drake captured his first victory at his hometrack, while Larson continued his western WISSOTA takeover.
Drake started on the outside of the second row in the 20-lap WISSOTA Midwest Modified main event. He moved to the front early, and held off the Leiker brothers to secure his first win of the season. Troy Leiker rallied from eighth to finish second, while Tony Leiker piloted to a third-place finish. Austin Long and Justin Will rounded out the top five.
Larson set off from the inside of the third row in the WISSOTA Mod Four feature, but quickly found his way to the top spot and ran away from the competition for victory. John Smith claimed second at the line ahead of Greg Baker, David Jozwiak and Dax Reher.
Eddie Kirchoff topped Modified action, John Garrigan, Jr. continued his dominance of the Hobby Stocks, and Aiden Lake outran Alexander Lake for top honors in the Mini Bomber division.
