Massingill, Inman, LaBarge, Blevins and Ament drop anchor in victory lane at Hibbing Raceway opener

HIBBING, MN (May 18) - Hibbing Raceway lifted the lid on their 2024 racing season on Saturday night. Two drivers - Andrew Inman and Sam Blevins - captured their first-career wins in their division, while Jeff Massingill, Andy LaBarge and Derek Ament also cashed in for WISSOTA Dirt Track Series victories.

In just his second race in WISSOTA Modified, Inman collected his first feature victory. He started on the pole and stayed ahead of eighth-starter Johnny Broking for the win. Jeffrey Wood was third ahead of Bob Broking and Mack Estey.

Blevins secured his first WISSOTA Midwest Modified win as well on Saturday. The second-generation driver took the lead in the second half of the 20-lap race. Justin Bassa led much of the race, but was relegated to second ahead of Deven VanHouse, Mervin Castle III and Tyler Kintner.

Massingill started on the front row, took the lead early, and raced to the WISSOTA Late Model main event win. Late Model rookie Johnny Broking posted a second-place finish ahead of Kyle Peterlin, Derek Vesel and Kevin Burdick.

Andy LaBarge led every lap en route to the WISSOTA Super Stock main event win. Tristan LaBarge shared the front row with cousin Andy for the start, but settled for second ahead of Austin Blom, Dan Severson and Mike Vajdl.

Ament rallied from the fifth starting spot to collect the WISSOTA Hornet trophy. Zeb Graves rallied from 21st on the field, but could not displace Ament and finished second. McKenna Folstad, Calvin Skaja and Jada Lore rounded out the top five.
