Hibdon, Woodie, Smith & Price lock themselves into Wednesday’s A-mains at Central Arizona

CASA GRANDE, AZ (January 15) - Week two of the Winter Nationals event at Central Arizona Raceway got underway Wednesday, January 15. Several WISSOTA racers were still on hand and a few qualified for feature racing, including Fargo, North Dakota’s Kollin Hibdon; Milaca, Minnesota’s Kaden Woodie; St. Joseph, Minnesota’s Jake Smith; and Great Falls, Montana’s Joey Price.

In the Modifieds, Hibdon parlayed his heat race finish into a front-row starting spot, but unfortunately finished the night scored in 26th. Having led the first eight laps, Hibdon’s tire started going down during lap six and was flat by lap eight, leaving him as a DNF for the night. Price qualified for the feature and was scored 28th.

In the Sport Mods, Woodie charged from 24th at the start of the 20-lapper to finish just outside the top five in sixth. Jake Smith also qualified for the feature, starting third. He suffered a broken power steering line during the feature, however, and was a DNF in 21st.

And in the Stock Cars, Woodie was impressive again, driving from 23rd at the start to ninth in 20 laps.
