CASA GRANDE, AZ (January 8) - Central Arizona Raceway’s several-week-long January racing action began January 8, as the speedway hosted its Winter Nationals. Nearly a dozen WISSOTA-area drivers were on hand for the first night of action on January 8.

Of the highlighted action for WISSOTA-area racers on hand, Jake Smith, former multi-time WISSOTA National Champion, traded in his X-Mod from his New Mexico racing travels for an IMCA Sport Mod in Arizona. The St. Joseph, MN native started the feature in fourth and finished runner-up, while Kaden Woodie improved five spots from 13th to fifth.

Kollin Hibdon, who had his foray into WISSOTA Late Models this past season, was back in a Modified for the Winter Nationals, placing sixth from his eighth starting spot.

Devin Fouquette, who raced often in a WISSOTA Modified in 2024, was also on track at Central Arizona Raceway in an IMCA Modified. He started the feature in fifth, and finished 12th.

Woodie, of Milaca, MN, who raced several WISSOTA classes in 2024, did the same in the desert to start off his 2025 season. In the Sport Mods, he started 13th and improved five spots to eighth, while he also made the feature in the Stock Cars, starting eighth and finished 13th.

Other drivers on hand for the week from WISSOTA ranks include Taven Woodie, C.R. Eisenzimer, Paxton and Peyton George, Mark Martini, Joey Price and Scott Oeltjen.
