By Tony Steuck

WATERTOWN, SD (September 1) - Maria Broksieck stole the Street Stock win in the final turn on season championship night at Casino Speedway on Sunday. Jake Molitor cruised to his first win at the speedway, while Chad Becker, Mike Stearns and Adam VanDerostyne were also victorious in the WISSOTA Dirt Track Series.

Tony Miller set the pace early in the 18-lap WISSOTA Street Stock main event. Chris Serr and Tyler Lamb raced door to door behind the leader until Lamb found speed in the upper groove and nabbed the lead on lap five. Serr and Jason Marko followed into second and third on the next lap, and Serr applied heat to the leader, but spun with eight laps recorded and brought out a yellow.

Marko used the upper groove, and narrowly edged ahead of Lamb to lead laps 10 and 11 by a hair at the flagstand. Marko slipped away, and after a few laps in the upper groove, he dropped to the inside lane while Broksieck claimed second with four laps to go. She tracked down the leader, and used the outside groove in turns three and four headed to the white flag. She remained in the upper groove, and sailed to the outside of Marko in the final set of turns. It was a drag race to the line, where Broksieck stole the win in the final feet. Marko settled for second with Lamb third, Andy Rossow fourth and Miller fifth.

Broksieck earned her seventh victory of the season in Watertown, as well her third-straight and fifth-overall Street Stock track championship at the oval.

Molitor fought off Brock Hess to lead lap one of the 18-lap WISSOTA Midwest Modified feature. Molitor edged away as the laps ticked by, and Hess had to contend with Tommy Nichols and Lucas Rodin near the halfway mark. The three cars battled tightly for second for a moment, but Hess regained the position and Rodin settled into third.

Molitor grabbed just the second win of his career ahead of Hess, Rodin, Tommy Nichols and Mike Nichols.

Mike Nichols collected his fourth Midwest Modified track championship at Casino Speedway.

Kyle Jensen moved by Curt Kranz in turn four to lead the opening lap of the WISSOTA Late Model main event. After a restart with one lap complete, Jayson Good took over at the front of the pack, and Trevor Anderson slid by Jensen for second a lap later. The caution waved again with three laps scored.

Good and Anderson settled into first and second after the restart, and both circled the inside of the speedway. Becker gained third shortly after the restart, and used the high groove to gain on the lead pair; he powered around Anderson for second on lap nine, and then grabbed the lead from Good on lap 11 of 25. One final caution fell with 10 laps to go.

Becker slipped away after the restart and picked up his third win of the season at the speedway. Anderson moved to second after the restart, and chased Becker to the finish line. Kranz grabbed third from Good late in the going, and Josh Skorczewski rounded out the top five.

Becker earned his sixth Late Model track championship in a row, and 12th total in the division at the speedway.

Mike Stearns (Cody Papke Photo)

Nate Heinrich outduelled Stearns on the opening lap of the WISSOTA Modified main event. Heinrich set the pace, although Stearns kept the pressure on and slid to the lead briefly on lap five. Heinrich regained the position, switched to the low groove, and opened a little track over Stearns until he clipped an infield tire and spun with seven laps scored.

Stearns held the lead for the restart, and raced unchallenged in the second half of the race for his fourth victory of the season. Tony Konold finished second, and Heinrich moved by Cayden Schmeling late for third. Kenny Mayer was fifth.

Stearns earned his first track championship at the speedway.

Adam VanDerostyne (Cody Papke Photo)

VanDerostyne led flag to flag for the victory in the WISSOTA Hornet main event. Curtis Borstad finished second, nearly a half track behind the winner.

VanDerostyne claimed his sixth victory in Watertown this season, and also earned his third-straight track championship in the Hornet division.

Bodie Croninger dominated the Gen X Late Model main event for his second win of the season at the oval. Curt Kranz broke free of a battle with Parker Gilbertson for second around the midway point, but could not track down Croninger in the second half. Trevor Walsh was third ahead of Scott Harrington and Gilbertson.

Walsh earned his first track championship at Casino Speedway.
