Two-win Wednesdays becoming habit for Chernosky, but Simpson and Germain join in the fun last week at Thunder City

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO (August 14) - In a case of deja vu for Thunder Bay dirt track race fans, Cole Chernosky was back in victory lane for what’s becoming a habitual two-win Wednesday appearance, scooping up the victories in the Modifieds and Super Stocks to highlight WISSOTA Dirt Track Series action at the Ontario oval.

David Simpson and Colt Germain were also victorious in WISSOTA-sanctioned action, as Simpson took home the honors in the Midwest Mods and Germain topped the Street Stock A-main.

In the WISSOTA Modifieds, Chernosky’s journey to the front started in eighth. By lap seven, he took over out front and drove home to the eventual checkered flag ahead of second-row starter Joel Cryderman. Riley Matthews, Curtis Stieh and Colin Chaschuk were top-five finishers.

Chernosky raced into the lead with just a few laps left in the 18-lap contest in the WISSOTA Super Stocks, garnering his victory ahead of Shawn Polonoski, John Toppozini, 12th-starter John Garrity, and Rick Simpson in the top five.

Simpson’s winning move into the lead of the WISSOTA Midwest Mod feature happened with just a handful of laps left, as he drove by Jamie Davis into the top spot and held on for the victory, just ahead of a charging Trenton Woodbeck. Jeff Kelly, Bill Speak and Rob Groom completed the top five.

Germain took charge in the WISSOTA Street Stock feature around lap four and led the remainder of the race for his first victory of 2024. David Mitchell and Darren Wolframe filled out the podium, while 17th-starter Cory Ward improved 13 spots to fourth. Nineteenth-starter Tyson Waller completed his outstanding run to the front in fifth.

In the track’s other action, Michael Shalley won from his row-four starting spot once again, for his eighth victory of 2024.
