With Mod victory, Broking keeps Sabraski from a trio of wins at Hibbing Saturday; Blevins tops MidMods while Skaja and Folstad share Hornet honors

HIBBING, MN (August 17) - Johnny Broking prevented Shane Sabraski from capturing a trio of feature wins Saturday night at Hibbing Raceway. Broking outran Sabraski for the Modified win, while Sabraski was victorious in both the Late Models and Super Stocks. Sam Blevins and Calvin Skaja also pocketed a WISSOTA Dirt Track Series win in Hibbing, while McKenna Folstad won the makeup Hornet feature.

Broking started on the inside of the second row in the WISSOTA Modified main event, and outran front-row starter Sabraski to the checkers for the victory. The win was Broking’s second of the season in the division at the oval. Jeff Wood started on the pole and finished third with Mack Estey fourth and Jeffrey Wood fifth.

Sabraski started the WISSOTA Late Model main event in sixth, and stole the lead with just a few laps remaining in the 30-lap main event. Sabraski paced the final laps for the victory with eighth-starter Johnny Broking in second. Jeff Provinzino rallied from 10th to third while Derek Vesel, who led the majority of the race, settled for fourth. Kyle Peterlin rounded out the top five.

Sabraski charged from eighth to win the WISSOTA Super Stock main event. He took the lead from Doug Koski just past the halfway mark and outran Tristan LaBarge and Andy LaBarge for the score. Koski settled for fourth with Dalton Carlson fifth.

Sam Blevins made a late-race move to top the WISSOTA Midwest Modified main event. The point leader started fifth en route to his third victory of the season at the speedway. Mevin Castle III was second ahead of Chad VanDuker, Michael Blevins, Sr. and Matthew Cunha.

Skaja captured his first WISSOTA Hornet win of the season in Hibbing in the regularly scheduled feature, after starting in the fourth row. Ian Vanvickle was second with Jada Lore third, Addison LaBarge fourth and Zeb Graves fifth.
