Thunder City Double Deuce night winners are Chernosky, Simpson and Bolt in the WISSOTA classes

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO (July 24) - Thunder City Speedway hosted its annual Richard Schutte "Double Deuce" Tribute Night, with more than 130 race cars in the pits and ready for action Wednesday.

WISSOTA Dirt Track Series winners included Cole Chernosky, who scored in both the Modifieds and Super Stocks, as well as David Simpson and Kyle Bolt, who won in the Midwest Mods and Street Stocks, respectively.

Chernosky started in the fourth row in the WISSOTA Modifieds, taking the lead around the halfway point from Colin Chaschuk and driving to the win. Chaschuk was second, Riley Matthews improved four spots to third, Joel Cryderman charged from 14th to fourth at the stripe, and Jeff Davis completed the top five.

In the WISSOTA Super Stocks, Chernosky took the lead around lap five and grabbed the eventual checkered flag, with Doug Koski, ninth-starter Rick Simpson, 10th-starter John Toppozini and Shawn Polonoski in the top five.

Simpson started the WISSOTA Midwest Mod feature from outside the second row and made quick work of the field, moving out front by lap four and holding on for the victory. Chernosky was second, polesitter Mike Jacques slipped back to third, 12th-starter Trenton Woodbeck improved eight spots to fourth, and 11th-starter Jeff Kelly charged to fifth at the checkered flag.

Bolt blasted his way from eighth on the starting grid to the lead at about the halfway point of the WISSOTA Street Stock race, holding on to score the victory ahead of Brendan Makkinga, Andrew Piilo, Darren Wolframe, and A.J. Kellar.

In the track’s Hornet feature, Michael Shalley was victorious from his ninth-starting spot.
