MENOMONIE, WI (July 19) - It was the annual Red Cedar Speedway kids night this past Friday at the speedway. Many first-time fans were in the stands to check out a night of action on the track.

WISSOTA Dirt Track Series winners included Shane Halopka, Jay Richardson, Cody Kummer, and Alex Myers.

Mark Hessler and Justin Weinberger led the field to green in the WISSOTA Modified division, with Weinberger jumping out to the early lead. Halopka started to make his charge to the front from the sixth starting spot as he worked past Kennedy Swan and Steve Hallquist to move into third.

Weinberger continued to lead as Hessler pressured him to the outside. Halopka closed in on Hessler for second, before Hessler slipped up slightly and Halopka took advantage to pass him for the runner-up position. A few corners later, Halopka made his way around Weinberger for the lead and never looked back, taking the victory ahead of Weinberger, Hallquist, Kevin Adams and Swan in the top five.

Alex Myers (Alex Schwark Photo)

Alex Myers led right away in the WISSOTA Super Stock division, as he looked to drive away to his second win of the season at the speedway. Jesse Redetzke and Tom Karis battled hard behind Myers for second. Redetzke was able to clear Karis and set his sights on Myers. Redetzke got to the rear bumper of Myers and started to look to the inside, as Curt Myers cleared Karis for third and looked to run down the front two. As the race wound down, Alex held strong out front and took the feature win followed by Redetzke, Curt Myers, Karis and Avery Anderson.

Jay Richardson and Justen Seipel battled early for the lead in the WISSOTA Midwest Modified division, with Seipel taking the advantage on the high side. Seipel looked to stretch his lead, but Richardson did not let him get away, as he moved to the inside of Seipel. The two battled lap after lap as Brady Larson started to reel them in, along with Will Moelter. Richardson finally secured the lead as Larson moved to the inside of Seipel for second. Larson looked to be the car to beat, but a mistake midway through the race sent him spinning.

On the restart, Richardson jumped out front, but his march to the win did not come easy, as Moelter and Seipel were still right there when the laps ran out. Richardson was the winner followed by Moelter, Seipel, Larson and Jesse Bryan in the top five.

Cody Kummer (Brent Creaser Photo)

Cody Kummer made the right moves early in the WISSOTA Street Stock feature. Kummer immediately jumped to the outside from his eighth starting position and rolled well into the top five after lap one. Kummer then secured second from Gunnar Watkins and challenged Levi Randt for the lead. Kummer was just too tough as he rolled by Randt and drove away to the win. He was followed by Randt, Kolby Kiehl, Watkins and Dylan Baskin in the top five.

Alanna Karis was the early leader in the Hornets and looked very strong, while Brandon Gleiter and Jeff Schmitt started to charge to the front. Gleiter looked both high and low and even pulled alongside Karis, but could never get the lead from her; Gleiter tried lap after lap with Schmitt in close tow. As the white flag flew, Gleiter made one last charge at the lead. As Karis made a slight slip, Gleiter snuck by into the lead and took the win, while Schmitt moved into second. Karis finished third followed by Jon Schutts and Vanessa Seipel.

Join us next week for two nights of racing, Thursday, July 25 and Friday, July 26, as we welcome the Dirt Race Central Street Stock tour both nights during the Dunn County Fair.
