Gerdes and Rohner roll over WISSOTA rivals in I-94 show that also features Gen X Late Models and RaceSaver Sprint Cars

By Ron Krog

FERGUS FALLS, MN (June 28) - I-94 emr Speedway’s program on Friday included the WISSOTA Hornets and Modifieds, alongside the Gen X Late Models and the RaceSaver Sprints.

WISSOTA Dirt Track Series winners included Jeff Rohner and Brady Gerdes.

Tyler Pourrier and Danna Gronwold sat on the front row for the WISSOTA Hornet feature, with Chase Pourrier taking the lead on lap two. With 10 laps left, Pourrier held the lead, but was under pressure from Justin Schelitzche, and three laps later Rohner moved in to join the party; Rohner took charge and hung on to seal the win followed by Schelitzche and Pourrier in the top three. Nick Shirley and Christopher Winter, Jr. were top-five finishers.

The 20-lap WISSOTA Modified feature was a dandy, as Avery Anderson took the early lead. With three laps scored, Justin Froemming, Jason Thoennes and Austin Chyba were three wide for second. Four laps later, Travis Saurer caught Froemming in a great battle for second. A few laps later, there was a wild wreck that sent Froemming, Brendan Blascyk and Thoennes to the pits.

Following the restart, Gerdes caught Anderson for the lead and soon passed him for the top spot. During the final few laps, Dusty Bitzan also caught Anderson and they had a stiff battle for second. Bitzan and Anderson tangled at the checkered flag, and it was chaos at the finish. Gerdes took the win, ahead of Bitzan, Anderson, Saurer and Tyler Kaeter in the top five.

Andrew Tysdal and Brad Staples put on a fantastic show in the Cliff Viessman Gen X Late Model feature, with Tysdal grabbing the win. Ty Wilke won the RaceSaver Sprint car feature in a super battle with Andy Pake, in what was another great race.
