Stieh steals another Mod win while Young tops Supers, Simpson scores in MidMods and Bolt beats Streets at Thunder City

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO (July 10) - Curtis Stieh, Danny Young, Kyle Bolt and David Simpson added WISSOTA Dirt Track Series victories to their respective 2024 season totals Wednesday, as Thunder City Speedway was back underway for its ITEC 2000 night July 10.

In the WISSOTA Modifieds, Stieh backed up last weekend’s big win at Dead Horse Creek Speedway with the victory Wednesday night. Capitalizing on his front-row start, he drove on to the victory ahead of sixth-starter Joel Cryderman in second. Riley Matthews was third, eighth-starter Cole Chernosky was fourth, and John Toppozini completed the top five.

Simpson continued his domination of the WISSOTA Midwest Mod class, as he moved forward from his fifth starting spot, taking the lead around lap 12 and leading the final six laps to score the victory, his 10th of the season. He was followed to the checkered flag by Jeff Kelly, Patrick Davis, Don Craig and Kolby Reed in the top five.

Young worked his way from inside the third row to the front of the WISSOTA Super Stock field, taking a hold of the top spot by lap eight, and holding back the charge of eighth-starter John Toppozini, who finished second. Shawn Polonoski, Rick Simpson, and Andrew Groom rounded out the top five.

Bolt’s trip to victory lane in the WISSOTA Street Stocks started way back in row five. By the halfway point, he drove into the lead and took his No. 77 to victory lane for the sixth time this season. Fourth-row starter A.J. Kellar followed through to second, Nathan Henny was third, 12th-starter Darren Wolframe was fourth, and Justin Tougas was fifth.

Michael Shalley delivered for the track’s Hornet win from eighth. He was followed across the stripe by Jesse Owen, Avery Chaschuk, Nate Owen and Selena Owen in the top five.
