Zabels split the open-wheeled features and Johnson earns a grand with Super Stock win at Miller, SD

MILLER, SD (July 13) - Matt Johnson made his first-career victory a rich one – he cashed in for the $1,000-top-prize in the Super Stock special at Miller Central Speedway on Saturday night.

Josh Skorczewski, Dylan Zabel, Dawson Zabel and Maria Broksieck also collected WISSOTA Dirt Track Series wins on a hot South Dakota evening.

Johnson started on the pole of the 15-lap WISSOTA Super Stock feature, and outran fifth-starter Trevor Nelson to the checkers for the career victory. Brad Kopecky raced to a third-place finish ahead of Derek Zastrow and Austin Arbogast.

Skorczewski collected his second trophy of the weekend in the WISSOTA Late Model ranks. He took the lead early and raced to a big lead by the checkers ahead of Mike Stearns, in just his second Late Model start of the season. Chase Gelling was third ahead of Dustin Arthur and Brandon Sprinkel.

Dylan Zabel led the distance for the WISSOTA Modified feature win. Mike Stearns was second ahead of Andy Brooker.

Dylan’s brother, Dawson, picked up the win in the 15-lap WISSOTA Midwest Modified feature. He started sixth on the grid, and took the lead in the second half for the feature win. Jake Wranek raced to a second-place finish with Jayme Peterson third, Luke Johnson fourth and Nick Perry fifth.

Broksieck charged from seventh to the WISSOTA Street Stock victory. Andy Rossow climbed from fifth to second with James Hoing third, Michael Bogh fourth and Grady Myers fifth.

Mike Hammill grabbed the Pure Stock victory on Saturday.
