Searing, Stearns, Grehl, Johnson and Stout stand out at Miller Central’s 2024 opener

MILLER, SD (June 1) - Miller Central Speedway opened its gates to the 2024 WISSOTA Dirt Track Series season on Saturday night. Cole Searing, Mike Stearns, Nathan Grehl, Lane Johnson and Broc Stout were among victors at the central South Dakota oval.

Searing started on the outside of the front row in the WISSOTA Late Model main event. At the end of 20-laps, Searing grabbed the checkered flag over Josh Skorczewski, polesitter Jayson Good, Chad Becker and Thomas Weisgram.

Stearns topped the field of WISSOTA Modifieds after starting on the front row. He raced to the victory ahead of fellow-front row starter Tyler Anglin, with Dylan Zabel third, Garrett Gross fourth and Brad Lawrence fifth.

Grehl was buried in the fourth row when he took the green flag in the WISSOTA Super Stock main event. He carved his way to the head of the pack by the end of 15 laps and scored the victory ahead of polesitter Stewart Schipke. Brad Kopecky solidified a third-place finish with Damon Hoftiezer fourth and Austin Arbogast fifth.

The Johnson family occupied the podium after the 15-lap WISSOTA Midwest Modified feature; Lane Johnson earned top honors after starting the race in the second row, the patriarch of the family — Lorin — posted a second-place finish, and Luke grabbed third at the line. Dawson Zabel, who climbed from 11th, and Cole Searing rounded out the top five.

Stout charged from ninth on the grid for the WISSOTA Street Stock main event win. Stout worked through the pack to take the checkers, while Maria Broksieck navigated her way from eighth to second. Matt Goth was third ahead of Jayden Bogh and Jayden Michaelsohn.

Chris Asmus claimed the Pure Stock main event victory.
