Grand Rapids fans get some Thursday Thunder, provided by Spacek, Castle, Broking, Finckbone and Kiker

GRAND RAPIDS, MN (June 13) - Grand Rapids Speedway hosted the Fastlane Super Stock Series Thursday night, June 13. Winners in WISSOTA Dirt Track Series action included Terran Spacek, Mervin Castle III, Johnny Broking, Chaston Finckbone, and Russell Kiker, Jr.

Spacek was the polesitter in the WISSOTA Super Stocks, taking the early lead ahead of Curt Myers and a side-by-side battle for third between Kyle Copp and Dylan Nelson; Nelson got the advantage a couple of laps in.

Farther back, Shane Sabraski was quickly making his way to the front from his 10th spot, along the high side of the track in the early going as the field was two and three wide underneath him. Up front, Nelson was right on the bumper of Myers, while Spacek had a clogged track of lapped traffic ahead of him. A caution at about the halfway point brought the field back together.

With Spacek out front, Sabraski made the best use of the restart, using the high side again to shoot by Nelson and then Myers into second; he then raced side by side with Spacek for the lead. Nelson made his way by Myers in third and another caution regrouped the field with 13 laps to go.

Following the green flag, Spacek and Sabraski continued to battle back and forth for the lead. Sabraski was able to pull alongside Spacek in the turns, as Spacek pulled away down the frontstretch and backstretch each trip around the Minnesota oval. Nelson and Myers continued their war for third, with Myers getting the upper hand following the restart. Nelson pulled back ahead into the final podium spot with less than 10 to go.

As the remaining laps wore down, Spacek had a healthy advantage and drove off to the victory. Sabraski was second, Nelson was third, Myers was fourth and Copp completed the top five.

Chaston Finckbone (Melissa Pickett Photo)

In the WISSOTA Pure Stocks, Chaston Finckbone was the early leader, ahead of front-row mate Justin Barsness and Jake Smith. Smith got by Barsness a lap later for second, as farther back Austin Carlson was just ahead of Ethan Elhardt in fourth. A couple of laps later, Barsness spun but continued on, keeping the field under green.

Out front Finckbone was steady in his line, as Smith was several car lengths back in second, with Carlson third.

A spun racer in his path did not deter Finckbone, as he grabbed the win ahead of Smith, Carlson, Elhardt and Caylyn Binkley.

Mervin Castle III was the early leader of the WISSOTA Midwest Modified feature, before Darrin Lawler got by for the lead for half a lap. Castle was back out front shortly after, and the top two were closely followed by Sam Blevins in third. A caution for David Simpson regrouped the field. The restart was called back for debris that flew off a race car at the initial go.

Castle led the ensuing restart, just ahead of Blevins and Lawler. Blevins spun, and the field was reracked once again. With Castle out front, Mikey Blevins shot into second, with James Trantina third, and Lawler now fourth.

The race was cut short, and with two laps to go, Castle continued to lead. He drove to the win ahead of Mikey Blevins, Feltus, Lawler and Trantina in the top five.

Johnny Broking (Melissa Pickett Photo)

Johnny Broking took the lead from the pole to start the WISSOTA Modified feature, and it was lights out for the field after that. Broking drove to the eventual victory ahead of dad Bob Broking, Shane Sabraski, Josh Beaulieu, and Charlie Castle in the top five.

Russell Kiker, Jr. (Melissa Pickett Photo)

In the WISSOTA Hornets, Tristen McLynn and Michael Lefler led the field to green. McLynn was the early leader of the 12-lap feature and led for several laps before a caution regrouped the field.

McLynn continued to lead on the restart, with pressure to the inside from Russel Kiker, Jr. For several laps the two were side by side for the lead, while also navigating the back of the field. Kiker drove by McLynn with just a couple laps to go and hung on through the white flag lap to get the victory. McLynn, McKenna Folstad, Lefler and Derek Ament were top-five finishers.
