MENOMONIE, WI (May 5) - After a two-week break thanks to Mother Nature winning the races, Red Cedar Speedway was finally back in action for its Celebrate Local Racing Night. WISSOTA Dirt Track Series winners included Jason Richardson, Jesse Redetzke, Brandon Jensen, and Andrew Hanson. Brandon Gleiter won the track’s Hornet A-main.

Richardson was on a mission Friday night, as he took off from his front row spot and shot into the lead. Richardson fought off numerous challenges from Shane Halopka, but he was not to be denied as he drove off to the win followed by Halopka, Cole Chernosky, Kennedy Swan and Ben Hillman in the top five.

Kolby Kiehl sat on the pole with Jeff Eisner, Jr. to his outside to bring the WISSOTA Super Stock feature field to green. Kiehl took off into the lead to start the race, but it wasn’t long before Jesse Redetzke was right there to challenge. Redetzke moved to the inside of Kiehl and took the lead, holding the advantage for several laps. Meanwhile, eighth-starter Terran Spacek began to close. Spacek looked high and low and even pulled alongside of Redetzke, but could never get by. As the two continued to battle, Kiehl began to close; Kiehl also looked for a way by, but a caution then halted the exciting action.

On the restart Spacek shot to the outside of Redetzke, almost taking the lead, but Redetzke was not to be denied and took home the win, followed by Kiehl, Spacek, Curt Myers and Cole Chernosky.

The Midwest Mods had an exciting start to their feature event as many drivers battled each other for the top spot, with Brady Larson shaking out into the lead. He looked to have the feature in hand, but a restart midway through the race changed everything. Larson changed his line a bit on the restart, which allowed for a hard-charging Brandon Jensen to sweep to the outside of him. Jensen took the lead and Larson dropped to second. Larson settled in and began to close back in on Jensen, but never had enough to get back by him. Jensen took the checkered flag followed by Larson, Jesse Bryan, Joey Jensen and Shadow Kitchner.

Andrew Hanson (Brent Creaser Photo)

Perennial front-runner Andrew Hanson was the early leader in the WISSOTA Street Stock main event. Hanson fought off a strong charge from Kyle Genett to secure the win. Dylan Baskin, Gunnar Watkins and Bruce Stanley completed the top five.

Brandon Gleiter was the early leader in Hornets. Jason Bauer made a strong run from his eighth starting position, but it was not enough as Gleiter took the win followed by Bauer, Brian Schott, Jeff Schmitt and Roy Cooper in the top five.

On Friday, May 10 the speedway will celebrate Mother’s Day and raise funds for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS). Stay up to date with the track by visiting the website at redcedarspeedway.com.
