Czech flips the script on Koranda in Super Stocks at North Central Speedway

BRAINERD, MN (May 6) - North Central Speedway ushered in the 2024 racing season Saturday, swinging the gates open to more than 100 racers on hand at the Brainerd, MN track.

Denis Czech and Tommy Bawden both came from the fourth row to grab the feature wins in their respective WISSOTA Dirt Track Series classes, highlighting the night’s sanctioned action.

Czech started outside the fourth row to begin the WISSOTA Super Stock feature, and slowly picked his way forward, gaining the top spot on the final lap to grab the thrilling victory, the first of his 2024 season. Race-long leader Jack Koranda had to settle for second, Max Dondelinger was third, Eric Martini was fourth and ninth-starter Andrew Johnson completed the top five.

In the Mod Fours, Bawden took the lead with a handful of laps left in the 15-lap feature, taking the checkered flag ahead of 13th-starter Dustin Holtquist, who completed an impressive drive of his own in second. Patrick Specht, Luke Erlandson, and Rowan Tramm completed the top five.

Several other classes were also in action to complete the program. Winners included Shawn Fletcher (Modifieds), Mark Martini (Sport Mods), Josh Maleski (Sport Compacts), Tom Anderson (Hobby Stocks), and Aaron Johnson (Stock Cars).
