VADO, NM (January 14) - The final night of the Wild West Shootout came to a close on Sunday, January 14, with the X Mods and Modifieds closing out the two-week long event. When the final checkered flag flew, Cade Dillard and Jesse Haynie were in victory lane.

Dillard and Chad Wheeler brought the field to the green flag in the Modifieds. Dillard was the early leader, followed closely by Wheeler, Christian, Logan Drake, and Tyler Wolff in the top five. Lake Shore, Minnesota’s Dan Ebert was eighth, and Eleva, Wisconsin’s Calvin Iverson raced in 10th.

With four laps complete, Wolff got by Wheeler for second, and Christian displaced Wheeler to fourth two laps later. Ramirez raced into fifth.

Dillard continued to lead with eight laps scored, Wolff was second, Christian was third, and Ramirez got by Wheeler to fourth. Ebert was sixth, and Iverson continued to race inside the top 10.

A caution for a wreck with 12 to go reset the field.

Dillard led the restart, and Christian had a jump on the field into second. Wolff was third, Ebert moved into fourth and Ramirez was fifth. Wolff began to move back into Christian for second, as Ebert began to track down Wolff with eight laps to go.

With 20 laps scored, Dillard continued to lead around the bottom of the track, as Ebert pressured Wolff for third. They were side by side down the backstretch on the final lap, with Ebert grabbing the spot at the checkered. Dillard took the win ahead of Christian, Ebert, Wolff, and Sanders in the top five.

In the X-Mods, Rob Moseley and Josh Cain led the field to green, with Cain the early leader. He was followed by JC Morton under heavy pressure from Jesse Haynie, Moseley and Barraza. North Dakotans Jaden Christ and Nate Reinke were 11th and 13th, respectively.

Cain stretched his lead out front, while Morton and Haynie continued their fierce side-by-side battle for second. Haynie took command to complete lap six. Christ had cracked the top 10 before a caution brought the field back together.

Cain led the field back to green, under fire from Haynie for the lead. Morton was in third, Mosely was fourth and Barraza was fifth. Another caution fell for Peyton Gallardo.

Cain was the leader once more with eight laps scored, as Haynie set chase again from second and Morton was third. Haynie had a head of steam two laps later, and pulled even with Cain in the lead. Haynie grabbed the top spot with 13 to go.

With 10 to go, Reinke was in 10th, Christ was 12th, and Rodin was scored 15th. Reinke took ninth one lap later.

Out front, Haynie continued to hold the lead ahead of Cain, Morton, Reece Solander and Rivera in the top five with five to go, as the lead trio began to catch the backmarkers. With three laps to go, a spun car right in front of Haynie and Cain reset the field.

Haynie continued on to the feature win, with Cain, Morton, Solander and Rivera completing the top five. Reinke was ninth, Rodin was 15th, and Christ was scored 18th.
